My Favorite novel

 My favorite novel is gamperaliya

“Gamperaliya” is a famous Sinhala novel written by Martin Wickramasinghe and first published in 1944. It is considered one of the most important works in Sri Lankan literature because it realistically portrays the social transformation of a traditional village society into a modern one. The story mainly revolves around the lives of Nanda, Piyal, and Jinadasa, highlighting their relationships and personal struggles as society changes around them. Nanda represents the traditional aristocratic class, while Piyal symbolizes the rise of educated youth and new ideas. Through their lives, the novel explores themes such as class change, love, economic development, and the decline of the old feudal system. Overall, “Gamperaliya” provides a deep insight into the cultural and social changes that took place in Sri Lanka during the early 20th century.
